Thanksgiving & Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving day is on November 24. It is the day where you celebrate by giving thanks and show you are thankful for what you have etc. The first thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the new world. They did it to give thanks the Native Americans for helping them out. It has been celebrated as a federal holiday since 1863 when American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dweller in the Heavens". Thanksgiving is on the last Thursday of the month of November. On this day people usually take the chance to go with family and get together eat all the good food and show them you care and that you are thankful for having them. Most common foods eaten on this day are Turkey, Ham, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, etc. Other than the United States thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada. Some people before eating give thanks to god for putting food on their plate and that he continues helping them out as a family.
I am thankful for:
- Having a family
- Being healthy
- Being able to go to school
- Getting the help I need at school
- Having people who care and love me
- Being able to have a home to go to everyday
- Having food
- Getting a good education
- Having good friends
- For having a best friend who cares
- That I have a life
- For everything I have and own
