President's Day

Image result for presidents dayPresidents day is is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Presidents day started of as a day to honor first president George Washington. The holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act. It was an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. Even though it started as only honoring the first president, now it is used to honor every president. Washington's birthday (presidents day) originally became a federal holiday in the 1870’s. This holiday initially only applied to the District of Columbia, but in 1885 it was expanded to the whole country.
